Winter’s here, and with all of the recent snow, the ski mountains up north are packed with fresh powder. Get a pair of skis or a snowboard, have them tuned, polished, and waxed for the season, and you are ready to go. However, what you might not have realized is that you unnecessarily lost a good chunk of money.
Ben Allen, a competitive ski racer and Briarcliff junior, can help you out. He says that ski companies overcharge for the smallest of services. As an experienced, longtime skier, he recently started his own ski tuning business, SLYDE Skis, with his love of skiing and a desire to compete with big business. Whatever you want done, from a simple tune-up to a professional race polish and waxing, Ben is your guy.
However, SLYDE Skis is just the start of his entrepreneurial career and he has bigger plans for the future. “I hope to expand my business to actually make custom handmade skis and snowboards… I have already ordered the materials to start working on my first test pair.”
Find him at his mountain, Jiminy Peak, or corner him in school, and he’ll work your skis over for you. What are you waiting for?
