On November 9, a group of elite Briarcliff athletes signed their National Letters of Intent (NLI), committing to continue their athletic careers in college. Among those who signed were Jack Zimmerman, Loren Haukova, Jordan Ricciardi, Sophia Gelard and Ryan Gallagher. Zimmerman will be part of Penn State’s Track and Field team while Haukova will play tennis for Boston College. Ricciardi will be a member of the lacrosse team for the University of Richmond, and the two members of Briarcliff’s very successful track team, Gelard and Gallagher, will run at Binghamton University and Providence College, respectively. Gelard will participate track and eld while Gallagher will run cross-country, the event which he won the New York State championship. There are several other Briarcliff athletes who will commit to play sports in college, but National Signing Day is only optional for student-athletes. All of the athletes continuing to play varsity sports at the collegiate level will be presented in the Spring at the seventh annual NCAA Recognition Event.
