The chorus and dance concert on December 5th, was a phenomenal show, a perfect way to begin the holiday season. The theme of “flowers in winter” showed strongly and beautifully through all of the five dances. The dance section of the concert was choreographed by Briarcliff High

School’s dance director, Ms. Guida. The dances included: “Acorn to Oak”, “Under the Tree,” “Under the Mistle-toe,” “Evergreen” and “Poinsettias.” The dances were performed by participants in the dance class from students in grades 8-12. After all of the dance performances, the small group of students in Briarcliff Singers, run by Dr. Banks, performed “Sing We and Chant it.” The performance highlighted some of the many wonderful voices from Briarcliff High School. Then, the entire chorus, also conducted by Dr. Banks, sang two songs, There is no Rose by Benjamin Britten, and Let it Snow/Winter Wonderland. These songs presented the theme of flowers in winter and a twist on two classic holiday songs. After these performances, Briarcliff High School’s all female acapella group, the Bellatones, performed “Imagine” and “Deck the Halls.” Then, Note- worthy, the co-ed acapella group sang “I Lived.” Both groups are student run clubs that gave spot on and well-rehearsed performances at this year’s dance and chorus winter concert. In all, the winter dance and sing- ing concert was a great success and a wonderful start to the holiday season.
