Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West filed for divorce after seven years of marriage.

American music producer, rapper, and fashion designer Kanye West, who struggles with bipolar disorder, had a psychological breakdown a few months back. Unfortunately, Kanye himself publicized the whole episode on twitter, calling out many celebrities and outing many family secrets. But worst of all, Kanye claimed that his wife, Kim Kardashian West and mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, wanted to lock him up for his mental instability.

Most were aware that this isn’t a laughing matter, but that the 21 time grammy winner is in need of serious psychological help. Some of his friends, fellow celebrities who have faced mental illness troubles, singer Justin Bieber and comedian Dave Chappel, flew out to West’s Wyoming Ranch to be with him during this time.

Kim K. has stayed with her husband through thick and thin. The thick being the births of their four children, North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm, and the thin being Kanye’s failed run for the United States presidency. It seemed like for a while there, the two were perfect for eachother. It may seem silly to think that reality star, lawyer, and fashion/make-up/fragrance designer Kim Kardashian could keep someone grounded, but I believe that she really understood Kanye’s complex mind. Some of the biggest geniuses are also some of the most tortured; take Robin Williams, Kurt Cobain, Pablo Picasso.

The couple seems very obscure. Kardashian grew up in Calabasas with famous lawyer, the late Robert Kardashian, as a father, and later on Olympic track star, Caitlyn Jenner, as a step father. It is safe to say that she lived a much cushier life then West, who grew up in South-Side Chicago. However, both have lost a parent, Kim’s father Robert died of skin cancer, while Kanye’s mother, Donda, died of complications during plastic surgery. And both know what it means to be in the spotlight from a young age. Robert Kardashian served as the lead attorney in the OJ trials when Kim was only fourteen years old. Kanye first started making music at the age of nineteen.

Since celebrity relationships never seem to last, the couple’s seven years of marriage was thought to be endgame. Especially considering Kim Kardashian’s two previously failed marriages, one of which happened when the reality star was only nineteen years old. But even if this power couple’s days are coming to an end, we still have West’s music to commemorate the years. Because of course, “One good girl is worth a thousand-” well, I’m sure you know the rest.
