Retirement Spotlights: Mrs. Marcel

By: Jolie Wasserman

Mrs. Nina Marcel will be retiring from her work at Briarcliff High school after over 22 years of service to the school district. Like many of us, the Covid-19 pandemic has played an influential role in our ever-changing perspectives of what we find truly important. As Mrs. Marcel put it, “Being quarantined for so long and not having the opportunity to see my family and friends made me realize just how important that part of life is and how easily it can be taken away.” Mrs. Marcel will point her attention towards her grandson in New Canaan and her granddaughters in Charlotte. Her husband, her mother, her children and their families are all important figures that Mrs. Marcel realizes need to be her new priorities.

Mrs. Marcel emphasizes her gratitude towards her co-workers and the many years of fond memories they have shared. She adds that “the students have always been a great source of joy, especially those that I truly bonded with who have gone on with their lives but still keep in touch with me.” Mrs. Marcel, we will miss you dearly, and we hope that you are able to take a well-deserved trip once Covid-19 is finally out of the picture.
