TV Shows: Old and New

iCarly

By: T.J. Collins

On February 8, 2021, iCarly, the beloved Nickelodeon kids sitcom, began streaming on Netflix. The show, for those who are not familiar, revolves around Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove). Carly starts an internet show, aptly named iCarly, that becomes an instant hit. Carly recruits her two friends Sam (Jennette McCurdy) and Freddie (Nathan Kress) to aid her in the internet shows rise to stardom.

At this point Netflix only has seasons one and two of the iconic show which means (for those who have already finished bingeing) there are still three more seasons (41 episodes) left to be aired!

This re-airing comes at the same time as the exciting news that iCarly will be getting a reboot! With the original cast members Miranda Cosgrove, Nathan Kress, and Jerry Trainor! You may notice that Jenette McCurdy was not mentioned. The news of McCurdy shying away from this reboot is just as sad as her reasoning for doing so. McCurdy recently came out saying that working on iCarly as a 15-year-old was “hellish” and “shallow.” The depression she developed from filming iCarly was enough to make her quit acting altogether.

Regardless of who appears on this remake, I think everyone is able to say they are stoked to be able to relive the old episodes on Netflix and are excited to create new memories watching the remake.

WandaVision

By: Lillie Bianco

If you haven’t watched Marvel’s latest new show Wanda Vision, then you are seriously missing out. Disney+ recently came out with a whole new marvel mini series featuring Wanda Maximoff and The Vision, who are a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 9-episode show takes place after the events of Endgame and follows Wanda’s journey in coping with the fact that Vision is dead. If you don’t recall, Vision died in Avenger’s Infinity War, and shortly after, Wanda along with many other beloved characters were snapped out of existence by Thanos. Once the snap was reversed in Endgame, we see a heartbroken Wanda who now has to live in a world without her true love… or does she? The show has countless twists and turns and will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting more and is a must watch if you’re a Marvel fan!
