MLB Season is Heating Up

By: Jolie Wasserman

We are a little more than a month into the 2021 MLB season, and the hometown Yankees are holding out on their highly anticipated AL East dominance after finally snapping a five-game losing streak. Subway Series rival, Mets, are sticking to their trite and true system of barely any run support when ace Jacob DeGrom is on the mound. Sixteen games into the season, DeGrom had more RBIs (2) than earned runs (1).

In regard to a more exoteric topic, the MLB has decided to move the 2021 All-Star game from Atlanta, Georgia to the Rocky Mountains of Denver, Colorado. This change of plans comes after the passage of S.B. 202, a law that will restrict voting access to Georgia residents. The Atlanta Braves and their fan base were not pleased with the change of plans as there was supposed to be a tribute to Hank Aaron, legendary Braves slugger who passed away earlier in the year. After the switch of All-Star Game sites, the Braves uniform squad were forced to become creative, sewing patches over hats and jerseys that originally had All-Star Game logos on them.

The start of the MLB season has not ceased to amaze yet: the red-hot A’s and the Dodgers powerhouse do not seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Only time will tell who will win the marathon of the 162-game season, as up to this point we’ve only seen the first sprint.
